The APRIL winner of the Talbot Hotel "Sporting Hero" award is FRANCIS (FRAN) DARCY.Francis is with St Patricks Boys AFC (SOCCER) in Carlow.

Francis has given over 30 years voluntary service to the club in many forms. He is the man responsible for maintaining the pitches in Graiguecullen, putting out the flags and organising the venue for match days. He also does trojan work for the club from everything from fundraising to promoting the game in the town.Francis recieved the nominations and the judging panel deemed him the first winner of the award.
