Talbot Creative Catering -Lisnavagh House Spring 2012

Just a quick note to thank you so much for everything you did in making our wedding fabulous.  Also, we’d like other people to hear about our very positive experience and hopefully help them make the decision to go with Talbot Creative Catering.
So, here’s our story……
When we decided to go with something different and have our wedding in a marquee on the grounds of Lisnavagh House, we did worry about how well food and set-up would turn out.  We spoke with numerous caterers, furniture suppliers, bar staff and at one stage even a wedding planner.  With a lot of these we felt as though what we wanted was hassle.  They tried to push their way on us so we would have had to compromise.  Then my mam mentioned to me that the Talbot Hotel did outside catering.  Having first-hand experience of how good their food and service is from events we’ve been to in the Talbot previously, we were delighted and made an appointment straight away to meet Dick (the manager at that time).
As soon as we met with him and talked though what we wanted, we instantly knew we’d go with the Talbot no matter what the cost.  Nothing was a hassle and everything we wanted, and more, was doable.  Having initially only thought the Talbot would be able to do the food, we were delighted when Dick also mentioned that they would be able to provide basically everything else that you get if you have your wedding in the hotel’s ballroom.  Having the furniture, chair covers, centre pieces, bar, full kitchen set up, etc. included in the agreement made our lives so much easier and took significant stress out of the organisation for us.  The best part of all, the Talbot was by far the most cost effective quote we had – particularly given all the extras we got from them being a hotel.
Once all the details were sorted, we sat back and didn’t have to worry about that end of the wedding for about 12 months.  Two months before the wedding we met with Ken (the new manager), Kevin (the operations manager) and Niamh (the wedding planner), and we were again totally put at ease on how the day would run.  Kevin told us about all his previous experience in catering for larger events and Niamh had all the finer details down to a tee.  About a month later we had our tasting in the Talbot hotel, just like you would if the wedding was there.  We were able to have a full tasting session.  The food was fabulous and it was great to be able to actually have the tasting – with some of the other caterers we enquired with this was not possible.  We were in constant contact with Niamh between the tasting and the day itself.  Any queries or requests she was there to assist.
We met with Niamh and Kevin at Lisnavagh House about two weeks before the wedding and walked through the plan of action for the day – from drinks and canapé reception on arrival to the evening finger food.  The day before the wedding Kevin and his team were on site all day setting up and getting everything the way we wanted it.  I’m a perfectionist and I have to say, not one thing could have been done any better.
On the wedding day, everything was perfect.  Unfortunately the weather wasn’t!  It was a bit blustery so the drinks reception had to be moved inside.  That wasn’t a hassle and we didn’t have to worry about it.  The canapés and cocktails on arrival were fabulous.  They were all made from scratch and there was no scrimping – plenty enough for everyone.
The wedding breakfast was exceptional.  The food couldn’t have been any better and portions were very generous.  The “Talbot Malteser Cheesecake” went down a treat and everyone commented on how fabulous the entire meal was, not to mention how efficient the staff was throughout the day.  They worked very late into the night (or the early morning) to get the marquee back in shape.  The next day Kevin and his team were back again bright and early to take away all the equipment and anything else remaining.
We can’t complement the members of staff led by Kevin and Niamh highly enough.  They were exceptional and total professionals.  This was clearly seen in their dealing with our guests as well as their co-ordination with our other suppliers such as the owners of Lisnavagh House, the lady who made the cake and the band.
We really recommend the Talbot Hotel and the Talbot Creative Catering and firmly believe that if you decide to go with them for an event they will far exceed your expectations.
