ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONS MOUNT LEINSTER RANGERS HONOURED BY CARLOVIANS
The Mount Leinster Rangers Hurling team has been named the February winners of the Talbot Hotel and KCLR Sporting Heroes Award.
The team were crowned All Ireland Intermediate Hurling Champions on Saturday February 11th after defeating Middletown Na Fianna 1-13 to 1-11 in the final having trailed by 5 points and reduced to 14 men after just 20 minutes.
In doing that, Rangers became the first Carlow club to win an All-Ireland club title.
Mount Leinster Rangers have been one of the main contenders for Carlow Senior Hurling title success appearing in the last 7 Carlow senior finals, and made the breakthrough winning the Senior title in 2006 v St. Mullins
They won further Carlow championships in 2007, 2009 and 2011 where they defeated Naomh Eoin Myshall after a replay
Winning an All-Ireland in any sport or grade is a huge achievement and shows the hard work done by the club from the Committee right down to the supporter.
The people of Carlow sent in hundreds of nominations for the team during the month of February.
Its gives KCLR and The Talbot Hotel great pleasure to present the Mount Leinster Rangers hurling team with our Sporting Heroes Award for February 2012.
