Sean Murphy has been awarded the Sporting Hero Award for December 2011
TALBOT HOTEL “SPORTING HEROES” AWARD FOR DECEMBER 2011
Sean Murphy from Nurney Villa FC in Carlow has been selected as December’s winner of the Talbot Hotel and KCLR Sporting Heroes Award.
He has the honour of being one of the founding members of Nurney Villa back in 1976 and still to this day can be seen at every club game whether its Juniors, Ladies, Seniors, Youths or Ladies.
Sean himself played and coached Nurney over the years as well.
Most of his week is taken up attending training and matches, as well as marking the pitches and organising the different teams.
He is well respected by the soccer fraternity throughout the county and has received nominations from not just his own club but from others across the county.
Sean is the second man from a soccer club to receive a Sporting Heroes award.
The people that nominated Sean said they admired his attitude, the mountains of work and time given to the club, and the fact that he never looks for the plaudits in return and keeps the head down and works hard without any fuss.
It’s these core values that keep clubs like Nurney Villa going and are the backbone to what sport represents.
Its gives the Talbot Hotel and KCLR great pleasure to present Sean Murphy with the December Sporting Heroes Award.
